On Friday, May 16 and Saturday, May 17, 2025, we would like to hold the 27th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Group of Brachytherapy/Japanese Society for Radiation Oncology in Nanki-Shirahama, Japan.

Brachytherapy has historically faced many winds. Surgery and its supporting therapy, external radiotherapy, systemic therapy, and so on. However, I think that it has allowed brachytherapy to further develop "Aufheven" while learning and including the good points of rivals. If they said that there was medical radiation exposure, we innovated a high-dose-rate remote after-loading system. If they said that it was too invasive, we improved implant technique and analgesic sedation. If they said that it was too subjective, we introduced image-guided planning.

The theme of this year's conference, " "saki" no "saki" no, sono "saki" he = Beyond to the beyond, and to the more beyond (The Japanese word "saki" is "beyond" in English)" is a pun taken from "Saki no Yu," one of the oldest hot springs in Japan, where Emperor Saimei enjoyed 1,400 years ago, located right next to Hotel Seamore (Venue of this conference), the venue of the conference. I decided on this thema in the hope that brachytherapy will continue to bring forth. The Japanese word "Sengen" has two meanings: a hot water source and isotope source. The hot water of Saki no Yu, like the picture on this meeting’s poster, continue for a long, long time from "Sengen" to the ocean right next door and beyond. In the same way, I hope that brachytherapy will go beyond to the future like the gamma rays that are permanently generated from "Sengen".

Incidentally, there is the Naniwa Nagara Toyosaki-no Miya next to the Osaka National Hospital in Osaka City, which can be said to be "Sengen" of my brachytherapy life, and it seems that Emperor Saimei once visited there too, so I feel some kind of connection. "Toyosaki" also has a hidden "saki" in it.

I would like to make the conference a fun and dreamy event, not only by offering the usual treatments, but also by introducing new treatments, new techniques, and a new late-night program that only local attendees can participate in. We hope that even those who are not familiar with brachytherapy will find it interesting to attend. Of course, we also want you to enjoy the city of Nanki-Shirahama. Although the event is a hybrid (local and web), we would like you to come to Nanki-Shirahama if you can, if possible.

I only hope that in the "saki", in the "saki", in the more "saki" ("saki" also means "future" in English), in some way, it will be two days that everyone will be talking about as a good memory.
